After a few failed attempts over the past year, I finally (finally!) got an IUD yesterday.  I went for the copper one, because the hormonal kind has a 5-10% chance of depression as a side effect, and with my history, and the fact that antidepressants almost entirely knock out my sexual attraction and entirely knock out my sex drive, I wasn’t gonna go there.  About 15 minutes beforehand, I took 2mg Xanax (30 min prior I took 800mg ibuprofen), and the appointment went well, other then a brief moment of “okay, evverbody, let’s stop so I can panic now.”  The lidocaine injection was like magic, I felt only some minor cramping.  Today, that’s basically gone, and the spotting is pretty much gone, too.  Awesomeness.
