I am bored.
Lou is playing vidya games, Em isn’t online, and Emily is asleep. Ergo, boredom. So I dunno. Ask me shit, or reccommend stuff.
I wore a dress today
Pretty much cause I was too lazy to put on two articles of clothing. Felt awkward and I ignored it. Then I got called downstairs to help with groceries. Was all “yeah, no” and put on pants and a shirt before going down.
I am (still) strangely uncomfortable with dresses. They’re pretty and shit, but they’re really not for me.
Why is Lyme Disease a Problem in the US? ... →
Got this link today, via a very legit blog (skepchick). As it turns out, anti-vaxxers managed to drum up enough lawsuits and bad press relating Lyme vaccination to arthritis that demand dropped enough for manufacturers to stop making it. So the prevalence of Lyme disease? Good work, Luddites. A+ job removing a solution. Really top-notch.

Got boat parts today
80 bucks total. I bought the knuts n bolts, and my friend bought the wood. We don’t have barrels or plywood, but we’re building the frame this weekend and hitting it with spar urethane.
As sparingly as possible, because long isn't...
I’m having a thing with my best friend’s girlfriend. My SO is cool with it. If it doesn’t blow up in a bad way, this is gonna be an awesome summer. And I hope it goes well. Because it it goes bad, it’s gonna go south hard and fast. Somebody’s going to get hurt, and since I’m in the middle of it all, it’s either gonna be me, or I’ll be to blame. ...

For Those Who Care:
You can get both Dragon Age games (With Origins being the Ultimate Edition) for ten bucks on Amazon this week. A great choice if you were planning to spend ten bucks on computer games this week, and also a great choice if you pirated one, and want to justify it as an unauthorized free trial.
Belly Exposure
redefiningbodyimage:
When a thin person shows their stomach, it’s not perceived as brave or sexual or indecent. To most people, it’s perceived as just an ordinary stomach.
When a fat person with a thick belly and an abundance of stretch marks shows their stomach, it’s considered risqué. Unusual. Overtly sexual. Taboo.
Sometimes I really hate that I can’t do something as simple as show my...

So I’m going to point this out to the world. Your money is yours. Can’t nobody but the government take it from you unless you want to give it. If somebody asks for money, and you don’t think they deserve it, don’t give them your money. It’s that fucking simple. Unless you have reason to believe they’re being deceitful about what they’re gonna do with...
Rode—what would you call him? my ex-horse? the horse we sold two years ago before I left for college? I’ll just call him my ex-horse.—today. He stumbled a bit, and I’m way out of shape, but exercising him this summer’s gonna be good for the both of us.
Just sent tired!email. It’s uniquely incoherent, but heartfelt. Some classy shit.

people wax poetically about how much they love the way used books smell
because you know what people do with their hands
they wipe their ass, masturbate, cough/sneeze on them
and how many times do you think they wash their hands?

Yet another reason for me to loathe paper-book elitists.
Eh. I also enjoy the smell of...
I never thought I'd be a closeted queer in a small...
But here I am, in a small town, being closeted. Because I have bridges left that I’m not yet ready to burn. Shit kinda sucks. Can’t have my SO over, being being in public with them in almost anywhere we’d want to go would start a ten-day clock ticking before the whole county knows. That’s what small-town life is. Can’t even go to the city, because everybody goes...

I weighed a 2x4.
I was right, my friend was wrong, we’re building our boat out of wood and barrels. It’s 43 pounds heavier, and a hundred bucks cheaper, plus no shipping costs and no allen wrench.

I feel like I'm running in circles.
I’m in the process of trying to get a copper IUD. Why? Well, I can’t use anything with estrogen because of my Leiden Factor V, and with my history of depression, there’s a distinct chance something with a 5% chance of increasing depression (read: progesterone-only devices) would need to be taken out early. And fuck minipills. I’m damn glad I don’t need to take...

So there's no such thing as left-hand screw PVC...
Which means buying a dozen metal pipe clamps at 7.50 apeice. That’s at least a third of the boat’s cost, right there. Which means we’re checking with friends in my hometown, trying to get an investor or two. Because this is supposed to be the most cheap-ass boat two college kids ever done built. Our deck is half-burned plywood. We just need some more capital. Then we will have...
Just got back from a draft. Had the best time with friends, lost against the only grownup I played, tied to to kids, and beat a nine-year-old with a shitty deck who seemed to be playing to lose.
But I got to drive to the capital with my friends, and on the way back schemed a boat. We wanna build a boat this summer. The cheapest fucking boat we can. That we can strap to the roof of Serenity,...

If you’ve read my book, you know about the borough of West Chester’s officials. (If you haven’t read my book- dude, get on that!)
I talk about a group of white, middle aged men, “cranky fuddy duddies sitting behind a long mahogany lectern” at public meetings for permits, and codes, collecting…

My brother and his friends put a stereo on their raft. It’s almost like we’re related. They didn’t paint it, though, and are less than innovative in their construction. So I dunno.
I comfort myself with the fact that it’s not the first time I’ve lied to my dentist. Everybody pretends they really brush their teeth, right? It’s what you do. You brush your teeth 3-5 times a week, and pretend you do it regularly if asked. That’s just how it works. So really, I shouldn’t feel so bad. Besides, his fingers were in my goddam mouth, doing that...

ASUS Transformer Pad (TF300), six-day review
Pretty damn good. As a netbook, it’s pretty solid. The touchpad is full of netbook craptasticness, but that doesn’t matter because you can use the touch screen while it’s docked. Which then leads to awkward moments when you try to do the same thing to your regular laptop, but hey, what’s life if you don’t look like a fool poking your laptop screen every once in a...

please take a moment to sign this petition and to pass it on.
It asks that CeCe serve her time in a women’s prison rather than a men’s facility, where she is currently set to serve her time.
Please freaking sign. Otherwise she will literally be doomed to two+ years of constant sexual abuse.

This is an interesting read, if you’re not bothered by discussion of rape or domestic violence. The author does a shitty job of understanding the feeling of being triggered. Which is fine, you don’t really grok it unless you have, or have had, triggers. And sometimes not even then. For years, despite knowing what being triggered was, I couldn’t put that knowledge together with...

I keep poking the screen of my laptop, and thinking it’ll work as a touch screen. It doesn’t. But I live in hope. Someday.
